St Ives, Cornwall

St Ives is one of my favourite places on earth. I would move there tomorrow if I could. When I was a child, we never went abroad and one year for an extra special holiday we went to Newquay for a week, and we went to St Ives for the day and I fell in love at that moment. It's so picturesque with lots of lovely cafes and shops, and a lovely beach too. I was lucky enough to go back for a holiday with my Dad before he passed away a couple of years ago, and we decided to go for a holiday there again last year as a big extended family to say a final goodbye to him. There was me and Adam, my mum and sisters and also my Dad's brother and cousin and their families came along as well, plus some of my parents friends, to say a final goodbye to my Dad (one of the best men there ever was), as it was one of his favourite places on earth, too.

^^We were lucky with quite lovely weather for the most part, but it got windy for a couple of days!

^^The view from the flat we rented. The seagulls in St Ives are notoriously brazen - my mother in law had a Cornish pasty stolen out of her hand by one once! The flat had a little balcony and there were seagulls on it all the time, one morning we were having breakfast and heard someone tapping at the balcony door and it was seagulls!

We also spent a day in Newquay, with my Mum and sisters.

And then we had a day in Port Isaac (where they film the TV programme Doc Martin!) just the two of us. It was such a lovely little town, I really want to go back soon!

So in short, if you ever get chance I highly recommend a holiday to Cornwall! I think English holidays have fallen out of fashion a bit with people preferring to go abroad, and don't get me wrong I love holidays abroad when I can but I really do think there is something special about a holiday at home in Britain!
