Dorset

This past weekend felt like Spring had finally arrived. Sunny blue skies, a little warmth, and a bank holiday weekend. What more could you ask for?

In the depths of miserable January, Adam surprised me with a trip he'd booked for us to Dorset and I've been looking forward to it ever since. Well, I suppose technically it was a trip to Devon, but we stopped right on the edge of the county in a lovely little B&B on a farm and spent the majority of our time in Dorset, so I suppose either way is okay! We got up silly early on Friday and drove straight down to Axminster, it only took us four hours from the North!

Once we'd got there, we were too early to check in so we decided to have a drive out to Lulworth Cove (thanks to Junkaholique for the recommendations on her blog!). I loved it there, even though it wasn't a sunny day and it was still raining a bit on the Friday, you could see it was such a beautiful place, and I'd love to go back in the summer and swim in the sea in the cove!

On Saturday, we actually took a cooking course at River Cottage! Dream come true for me but more about it in my next post. After we'd finished the class, we drove to Weymouth along the Jurassic Coastal road for some supper.

The views along the coastal road were absolutely breathtaking, especially on our way back when the sun was setting too. We stopped at a lookout to get out of the car to really soak it up. I tried to get a couple of pictures, but I really couldn't do it justice with my phone.

On Sunday, we went to Monkey World which is an ape rescue centre. They do such good work there, and we'd wanted to go for a long time so I'm glad we could squeeze it into this trip. Afterwards, we went into Lyme Regis for the afternoon where we pondered around the shops, had a walk along the seafront, called to the pub for a quick half and had fish and chips for tea.

Back at the farm for our last night before coming home. I loved all the animals that they had there, wish I could have brought a duck or chicken or two home with me!
